Meditating
on the Scriptures Together
Morning:
Judges 3:31; 5:6-9; Ps. 118:1-9; Phil. 3:1-11
Judges 3:31
After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed 600 of the
Philistines with an oxgoad, and he also saved Israel.
Judges
5:6–9
[6] “In the days
of Shamgar, son of Anath,
in the days of
Jael, the highways were abandoned,
and travelers kept
to the byways.
[7] The villagers
ceased in Israel;
they ceased to be
until I arose;
I, Deborah, arose
as a mother in Israel.
[8] When new gods
were chosen,
then war was in
the gates.
Was shield or spear
to be seen
among forty
thousand in Israel?
[9] My heart goes
out to the commanders of Israel
who offered
themselves willingly among the people.
Bless the LORD.
Psalm
118:1–9
[1] Oh give thanks
to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast
love endures forever!
[2] Let Israel say,
“His steadfast
love endures forever.”
[3] Let the house
of Aaron say,
“His steadfast
love endures forever.”
[4] Let those who
fear the LORD say,
“His steadfast
love endures forever.”
[5] Out of my
distress I called on the LORD;
the LORD answered
me and set me free.
[6] The LORD is on
my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to
me?
[7] The LORD is on
my side as my helper;
I shall look in
triumph on those who hate me.
[8] It is better to
take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in
man.
[9] It is better to
take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in
princes.
