Suggested Bible Study and Prayers

(Passages that we will refer to in next Sunday's worship)

1 Samuel 10

Glorious Lord, You have anointed Your Son to be Prince over His heritage. We bow before this mighty King, the Lord Jesus Christ. You know all things. You could easily tell us the details of the days ahead of us, since these are all known to You. Fill us with Your Spirit and give us a heart to do the good that our hands find to do. Grant to us a fuller communion with our great Prophet, Priest, and King. Draw us near to Him again in solemn covenant assembly that we might know that we have been chosen by You. Remind us that our worth is in our Messiah. Send us forth day by day in peace and security, despite the opposition that may come to us from worthless men.

Genesis 28

O God Who Sanctifies Us, You know the road that we must travel in order for Your holy plans to be fulfilled. We are not sanctified by that pathway so much as we are sanctified by You, as You lead along the way. Throughout our days grant us a true sight of the One who is the sure and only connection between heaven and earth. He is Your Son, and angels ascend and descend upon Him alone. Keep us close to Him, and be with us, providing for us everything that we need to love You. You are God, and where You are, that place is Your house, and we are Your servants.

Acts 1

Sovereign Lord, Your plans are full and wonderful. You have promised us the great gift of Your Holy Spirit. By this same Spirit we are Your witnesses to the end of the earth. You direct this great work of mission from Your seat on high. Continue to supply us with all things necessary for the life that You have given to us. We thank You for the apostolic witness granted to us in the New Testament. Through this good Word we have the perfect interpretation of the Old Testament. Please direct us into a true understanding of the Scriptures, and lead us in the preaching and teaching of Your Word. Build Your glorious kingdom by Your mighty power even in our day.
