__ Daniel 2
Father God, You are sovereign over both our waking and sleeping. You are aware of every detail of history and have a full understanding of all that is yet to come. This is not merely a knowledge of the future, for You have decreed all things that will come to pass. You are God, and there is no other. In various times and places You have chosen to reveal a small portion of Your great knowledge to Your servants the prophets. You gave them revelations in visions, events, and in words. You blessed them with a greater knowledge of who You are, and revealed deep and hidden things about the past, present, and future according to Your holy will. You never said more then You intended. You never spoke incorrectly. Your Word is perfect. You can make a slave the most important man in a mighty empire when You choose to reveal mysteries through a humble son of Adam. The truth that You speak through Your servants is various but it is also entirely unified. It tells us that You ordain the rising and falling of kings and kingdoms. Beyond all of the powers of men, and all of their authority, You have brought about the coming of the kingdom of Your Son. This kingdom shall never end. You inaugurated this new kingdom during the time of a very impressive empire among men. That empire is now long gone, but Your kingdom continues to this day. It is on the offensive through numerous struggles, and even the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. You are a Revealer of mysteries, now wonderfully contained in written revelation. Your Scripture is a living Word that daily brings the breath of life to Your people in Your church.

Great God, we give You glory. There is no one like You. You do all that You please. The idols of the nations can do nothing. They are a dreadful snare to all who trust in them. Grant that we would trust You and follow You forever. We will fear You and serve You every day through Jesus Christ. Forgive our sins, and cause us to walk with a confident expectation of the coming resurrection.

Great King, we thank You for the joy that we have in knowing You, for You are marvelous in all Your attributes and deeds. We are so greatly blessed to have such a wonderful Messiah. Your throne is forever. You are full of the Spirit of God beyond measure. We bow to You Lord, for we are Your holy bride. Though we are scattered throughout the world, we belong to You. You will gather us in Christ. You will make us fruitful, and we will praise You forever.

__ Daniel 1
Glorious and Sovereign Lord, make Your plans for Your people shine forth in brightest colors in our darkest days.  When our prospects appear very bleak, You remain a bountiful Provider of every good gift.  You can still care for Your children though they are strangers in a strange land.  We are strengthened by Your Word and refreshed by Your Spirit.  When it would appear that we would fade away in a time of trouble, You are able to do amazing things.  You can give Your servants health, wisdom, learning, grace, diligence, and many other blessings.  When we lack everything else, there is no greater gift than Your presence among us.  Be with us day by day, and bless Your church in wonderful ways as we live in the midst of this fading world.  Glorify Your Name through the provision of help that could only have come from You.

__ Psalm 112
O Lord Our God, we praise You.  Make our young ones mighty in Your service.  Bring Your light into our homes and show forth Your glory in Your church.  Give us courage in the spiritual battle that we have before us.  Grant us hope and security in Your everlasting love.

__ Exodus 19
Lord God, You are near us.  We have a Mediator who is forever in Your presence.  You have brought us along on eagles’ wings as a kingdom of priests.  We hear Your Law, and commit ourselves to obey Your commandments.  Why would we ever sin against You?  Forgive us, O Lord.  Though we know that our Mediator has accomplished our redemption, it is still very frightening to think that we as sinners might somehow face Your wrath.  We are assured that our Rock, Jesus Christ, has faced the fullness of Your justice that we deserved.  Surely a mountain of punishment has been broken into nothing through the holy blood of Jesus Christ, who died for us.  Your Son has come down to us through the preaching of the truth, and has spoken to us of good news.  We believe Him, and believing, we find life in His Name.

__ Ezekiel 48
Father, we are coming to You in just a little while.  We are not coming to visit, but to stay.  One day Your Son will take us with Him again as He comes back to usher in the new age to come in all of its fullness.  Then all those who are His in this world that is fading away will be changed and we will be together with Your Son forever.  Teach us to be faithful to You even now.  It is appointed for us to live once, and then to face judgment.  You will carry us safely through that coming judgment.  Christ has died for our sins.  We long for the new holy work that You have prepared for us.  There will be no evil in that work, but much holy joy.  Here we feel so out of place.  We are not at home.  We long for the revelation of this new land.  It is our inheritance.  We have a portion in it.  O grant that we would enter that city through the gate appointed for us at just the right time. We want to live in the city with that glorious name.  The name of that city is “The Lord is there.”

Lord God, You have put something within us that longs for You.  You have made our souls alive to Your goodness.  We praise You when we are together, and we praise You in secret communion.  No matter how dangerous the enemies against us may be, You are our refuge and our help forever.

__ Genesis 1
Creator God, You have made all things of nothing.  You were in the beginning, and Your Spirit hovered over the face of the deep.  In the person of Your Son, You have spoken the world into being.  He is the Light of the World, and through Him Light was made.  Your Spirit is a fountain of living water for our souls, and by Your Spirit You created the waters and defined their boundaries.  You have given us the true Bread from heaven, our great Redeemer, and through Him You made all the vegetation that has covered the dry land.  Father, You ordained that the sun, moon, and stars would have dominion over light and darkness.  You have filled the waters above with the birds of the air and the waters below with the fish of the sea.  You have given us all kinds of creatures, covering the dry land with such a variety of living things.  O Marvelous Lord, You then created man, male and female, in Your image.  You have granted to us all that we need for life, and have placed us in dominion over all things in the created order.  Blessed be Your Name, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, for You alone created the heavens and the earth.

O Lord of the Sabbath, You rested on the day of Your choosing.  Grant that we might enter into Your holy rest through Jesus Christ.  He is the second Adam, through whom we have new life.  Our father, the first Adam, was granted life in a beautiful garden.  You warned him about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that he should not eat of it, lest he die.  You granted to him a helpmate from his own rib in the beautiful form of the very good gift of a woman.  She was a companion suitable for him, for she was like him but not like him; opposite him but not opposite him.  This great gift of women you have given us even now, together with all family blessings, for You know our every need and give wonderful gifts to Your children.

__ Ezekiel 47
Our God, we want to see the water coming forth from Your heavenly temple.  We want to put our hands in it, walk in it, and swim in it.  We need the life from this river even now.  That water brings fresh new life everywhere it goes.  Bring the Word of life everywhere, so that the dead may be brought to life again in Your Son.  Lord show us the way of the greatest spiritual health even now, that we may walk in it.  Where is our place in Your great land?  Surely there is a place for all those who rest in Your Son.  Will we want to explore the whole length and breadth of Your land for all eternity, or will we stay as near to You as we can be?  We were foreigners to the covenant of grace, but now we have been brought near to You through the blood of the Lamb.  Where will we live in glory?  We know we will be in Christ, and that our joy will be full.

__ Psalm 29
Lord of Hosts, all worship of men and angels is due to You, for You alone are God.  Your voice is fearful and wonderful, like glorious thunder from the heavens.  Blessed be Your Name, O great King.  We hear Your Word of peace, and are greatly blessed.

__ Deuteronomy 17
Father God, there was absolutely no blemish in the offering of Christ for our sake.  He had no abomination in His sinless heart.  Yet He was put to death for us.  Our evil was purged through the death of this perfect Substitute.  He is our Priest forever.  He has declared to us Your holy will.  We should follow His commandments forever.  Please continue to forgive us, for we have sinned against You.  Your Son is also our great King.  He is not a king like those of the nations.  He does not need anything from us, for all things are His.  Yet in His gracious love, He showers us with many royal blessings.  His Kingdom is forever.

__ Ezekiel 46
God of Grace, we long for the fullness of Sabbath rest that has been won for us through the work of Jesus Christ. His offering of Himself for us will be a testimony in Your Kingdom forever. We thank You for this great Prince, the Captain of our salvation. Will we actually be able to see Him in the temple above? We know that we will, for You have assured us that we will see Him as He is. We will fall before Him with the great joy of heavenly worship. O Father, we do not understand the things of heaven as we ought to. We do know that we are the property of Your Son. We are a part of Your glorious inheritance in the saints. We strain to understand the pictures of heaven presented to us in Your Scriptures. We so easily misinterpret Your Word. We humbly beseech You, take us, one day, to be with You, so that we can see You.

Almighty King, You are not intimidated by strong men with evil intentions.  Well-armed nations with thousands of soldiers do not impress You, no matter how powerful and wicked they may be.  You are above them all.  We will praise You forever.  Our hope is in You alone.

Glorious Creator, this world is full of powerful enemies who oppress Your people and reject the Messiah.  Your power is far above all that You have created.  You have secured the position of Your Son as King of kings.  All the world should kiss Your Son, lest they perish.

__ Ezekiel 45
Lord God, we long for Immanuel’s land.  You have a place for us there.  Your Son went ahead to prepare that place for us.  How extensive is Your great land!  There is a room there for Your beloved children.  The priesthood of all believers is laboring here below by Your grace.  Today we face oppression, even from those who should be godly leaders in our midst.  Here people lie to us and cheat us.  Here we worry about the danger that our money will run out.  We spend our resources in foolish ways, with little sense of our purpose in life.  We long for Your courts above.  We will thank You forever for our perfect atonement in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  There we will not be plagued by evil people around us or from the remaining sin within and among us.  We wait, O Lord, and we love You and one another in the strength of our eternal hope.

__ Psalm 46
Strong Deliverer, You are the Help of Your people every day and through every time of trouble.  There is a great river of Your Spirit coming to us out of Your heavenly sanctuary.  You have made us glad.  You have defended us in times of trouble.  You will glorify Your Name in us, for You are the mighty fortress of Your church, and we are Your people.

Creator God, we hear of You from every mountaintop and from the vastness of the oceans that exist according to Your will.  In the skies we see who You are from all that You have made.  But now You have spoken to us so clearly and wonderfully in Your written word.  Help us to love Your speech, and keep us from the foolishness of willful rebellion against You.  Change us that we might love Your Law more and more with a pure heart.

__ Ezekiel 44
Great Lord, You are the God of Heaven and Earth.  Your Son has entered into the heavenly sanctuary.  He has made an entrance into Your temple for us in Him.  We repent of all known sin.  We want to be numbered among the Israel that is above.  We receive You with joy today, and turn away from every foolish desire, thought, saying, action, and inclination.  We draw near to You now through Jesus Christ.  We want to minister to You one day in Your holy sanctuary.  Father, we understand that You are preparing us for that day even now.  How are You using the troubles of Your church to prepare us for the life to come?  We are assured that our labor in Your Son is not in vain.  What glory is coming for Your martyrs, and for those who have given up everything in order to serve You here below? Forgive us when we have made foolish choice after foolish choice.  We have missed the opportunity to suffer for You and to serve You.  Don’t we understand anything about the glory of the life to come?  How else could we make such worldly decisions day by day, as if the current age were everything and the life to come was nothing?  But with You there is abundant forgiveness.

Lord, You will not forget Your righteous Servant who made satisfaction for our sins.  Our foes will not win the day, for in Your steadfast love You help us.

__ 2 Samuel 7
Faithful Lord, grant us rest from all the enemies that surround us.  Father we would serve You with full devotion.  Our plans are not always Your plans.  Lead us in the right paths of fruitful service.  Build up Your house and glorify Your Name.  Bring glory to Your Son Jesus. You have made a house for David, and have established the Kingdom of His Son.  Your steadfast love will never depart from Him.  His throne is established forever.  Who are we that You would grant to us a place in Your house?  What can we say to You?  You are great, O Lord, God.  There is none like You, and it is the greatest privilege to be included in Your kingdom. You have confirmed Your Word of blessing through the death and resurrection of Your Son.  Your promises are true.  The house of Your servant Jesus shall know the security of Your love forever.
